Alain Knaepen

Alain Knaepen is a belgian SMB entrepreneur born in Mechelen in 1971, raised in Antwerp and currently residing in Erembodegem (Aalst) where his business HQ is also based.

Starting out with a master degree in Management and Marketing in 1994, further specialisation in ICT-integration for SMBs got him to assist and counsel his first clients with their day-to-day ICT-infrastructure and applications between 1995 and 2003. Soon his free-lance activities needed to be upgraded to meet further prospect demands, resulting in the founding of Mindquest in 2004.

Mindquest is an SMB ICT-integrator for SMB B2B market, working with a small team of geographically spread engineers and centralized administrative and commercial staff.

As owner and Managing Director, Alain Knaepen follows up the ICT-consultancy tasks during prospecting, on-boarding and pre-post calculations for periodic budget evaluations and optimisations. This next to the daily administration and commercial efforts. (25 years ICT-consulting experience, 17 years MQ business experience, Management and Marketing Master Degree)

Our Senior Engineers, Marco Meeus and Stijn Vanstreels, take care of technical project management and performs most of the second level interventions and problem solving. They are also the main technical managers for our daily datacenter co-location and hosting operations as well as all networking architecture. (25 and 15 years ICT experience, Electronic Engineering Bachelor Equivalent Degree, multiple vendor certifications)

Our Junior Engineer, Obaidullah Safi, handles the daily support and monitoring desk with remote and on site interventions spanning first and second level trouble shooting, next to installation and maintenance in coördination with senior engineers. (3 years ICT experience, System Engineer Graduate, multiple vendor certifications)

As third level engineer, Koen Verheyden completes our team in part time as specialist and programmer for the virtualisation architecture and functionalities. (25 years ICT and programming experience, Electronic Engineering Master Equivalent Degree, multiple vendor certifications, accreditations and references)

In order to keep new in-house expertise rotating, we often implement trainees during their ICT-bachelors and ICT-masters for specific technical vendor training and certification. This should result in continuous know-how updates and possible team reinforcement when needed on different levels.

The team composition always strives for overlap in competencies as well as the complementarity in specialisations, combining redundancy with a broad spectrum of in-house knowledge. Constant training and supplementary formation is present across our team with periodic eye on member expansion

Alexis Ohanian

Tech founder and venture capitalist Alexis Ohanian embraces disruption, beginning with his Waffle House epiphany that becoming an attorney was not his destiny to co-founding Reddit in his UVA dorm and launching the venture upon graduation. Ultimately selling the iconic company for millions, Ohanian’s entrepreneurial journey is a business school case study and playbook for founders.

Reddit.com has become one of the largest websites in the US. It was initially funded by Y Combinator in 2005 and sold to Conde Nast in 2006. Ohanian returned as executive chairman in 2014 to help lead the turnaround of the now independent company. Without Their Permission, his national bestseller chronicles much of the story.

In 2016 Ohanian left to co-found Initialized Capital—a seed-stage venture fund with over $770M under management and a portfolio with $100B in market value, which invested in companies like Instacart and Coinbase. In addition to starting Reddit.com, he has also been instrumental in other successful online ventures, including HipMunk and BreadPig. He’s invested in and advised over two hundred tech startups and was a partner at Y Combinator.

In June of 2020, in protest and solidarity with the national outcry for social justice, Ohanian stepped down from his seat on Reddit’s Board of Directors and urged his company to seat a Black candidate in his place.

With his passion for inclusion and a fervent commitment to Founders, Ohanian left Initialized Capital to establish the venture firm, Seven Seven Six, which recently closed its first fund with $150M. Focused on people, culture, and community, Seven Seven Six places humanity at its core. The firms’ limited partnership structure has DEI in its design, comprising 50% women and15% Black or indigenous limited partners. The firm offers the Founders in its portfolio an unprecedented Growth and Caregiving Commitment through an additional 2% of investment – set aside and dedicated to the life needs of Founders to encourage a balanced lifestyle including childcare, eldercare, or personal development. The innovation does not stop there. Through an open application process (not traditional for the VC world), Seven Seven Six has designed an Operator in Residence program to deliver optimum value to its Founders through access to cutting edge Operators. A first of its kind, the program promises to infuse VC with even greater diversity.

Ohanian is an advocate for the open internet, STEM education, and paid family leave. He has lobbied on Capitol Hill and penned a New York Times op-ed, Paternity Leave Was Crucial After The Birth of My Child, and Every Father Deserves It. Ohanian launched the Business Dad podcast, where he interviews fellow fathers about what it means to be a dad in today’s world and how they balance their careers and families. He is also the lead founding investor in the LA-based professional women’s soccer team, Angel City Football Club.

In 2012 Zabaleta played in the last game of the season versus QPR, a match which Manchester City needed to win to secure the Premier League title. Zabaleta scored City’s first goal but the team was 2-1 down going into stoppage time. Edin Dzeko equalised in the 91st minute with Sergio Aguero scoring again in the 93rd minute to finish the season on top of the Premier League on goal difference and win the title for the first time in 44 years.

After winning the Premier League in 2012, Manchester City faced Chelsea in the Community Shield that summer, played at Villa Park. City won 3-2 thanks to goals from Yaya Toure, Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri. In 2014, Zabaleta again helped Manchester City win the Premier League title, with the League Cup also adding to that season’s achievements.

In 2017, Manchester City gave Zabaleta an emotional send-off at the Etihad Stadium as he left the Club to join West Ham United. He spent two seasons at the London Stadium before announcing his retirement.

Zabaleta continues to work in football as a studio guest for Sky Sports and represents Manchester City at commercial events and Club activities.

My passion for building reputable IT businesses comes from the life-long experiences of being a seller and being a customer. From my younger years being a front-line salesperson, I have always tried to identify opportunities where other sales individuals have failed and to build lifelong trading relationships, some of which I still have to this day. I find that working with businesses personally, in conjunction with my team is a way for me to truly connect with what matters to our clients the most, and in turn bring those needs into our company values. The simple act of delivering what our prospects and clients want and need to shape their own businesses brings me endless satisfaction. My vision is to disrupt the market. Finding new ways to keep both the business and my partners evolving. With over 2 decades of experience in the I.T. space, technology may have moved on, but the passion and focus needed to keep a business front and centre of the game remain as high now as it did when I first started in this industry.
